Ghanaian musician, Abdul Kadir, popularly known as Captan, has made a surprising claim regarding a past encounter involving his former record label boss, Shatta Wale, and Nigerian music superstar, Burna Boy.

Speaking during a recent podcast interview, Captan alleged that Shatta Wale once played a key role in securing Burna Boy’s release from police custody in Ghana after the Nigerian artist was reportedly arrested for smoking marijuana.

According to him, the incident occurred several years ago, long before Burna Boy rose to international fame and achieved global recognition. He claimed that Shatta Wale personally instructed him and other members of his team to intervene and ensure Burna Boy was freed from the police cell.

“I once bailed Burna Boy out of prison in Ghana when he was arrested for smoking weed. Shatta Wale sent me and some guys to go and free him from police custody,” Captan stated during the interview.

Captan further alleged that beyond the arrest incident, Shatta Wale’s camp also provided support to Burna Boy at a time when he was facing security concerns, claiming that the Nigerian singer was once accommodated and protected while there were threats against him.

“There was a time we also accommodated him when some people were after his life. We helped him settle the case,” he added.

The musician also revealed that his relationship with Burna Boy has since broken down following a fallout between the Nigerian star and Shatta Wale. He noted that communication between them has not been restored since the incident.

However, Captan expressed optimism that reconciliation is still possible, stating that both he and Shatta Wale are mature enough to move past old disagreements if Burna Boy chooses to reach out.
