Nollywood actress Bolaji Ogunmola has spoken openly about the early challenges she faced in her acting career, revealing how industry stereotypes once limited her opportunities.

In a candid interview with media personality Jay On Air, Ogunmola recounted how she was frequently typecast into specific roles based on her physical appearance. According to her, prevailing beauty standards at the time particularly the preference for lighter-skinned actresses worked against her.

She explained that being dark-skinned and curvy often led filmmakers to confine her to “side chick” roles, a pattern she found frustrating and creatively limiting. Despite her talent and range, she said she was repeatedly placed in a narrow box that did not reflect her full potential as an actress.
