No Govt Can Solve All Nigeria’s Problems — Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, firmly stated on Monday, August 4, that no administration, regardless of how long it stays in power, can solve all of Nigeria’s challenges.

He made this declaration while addressing journalists during a media briefing in Abuja.

Wike argued that even if a government ruled for 20 years, it would still fall short of resolving every issue facing the nation.

According to him, the scale and complexity of Nigeria’s problems require consistent effort across multiple administrations.

Therefore, he urged citizens to manage their expectations and appreciate the progress being made under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.

The minister emphasized that his focus remains on improving the quality of life in the Federal Capital Territory.

Instead of chasing political headlines, Wike said he and his team continue to prioritize meaningful development projects.

He pointed out that while some projects especially large infrastructure like roads and bridges receive public attention through commissioning ceremonies, others are executed quietly without much fanfare.

“To me, what matters is that the people see results,” Wike said. “We don’t need to commission every project. What is important is that people benefit from them.”

Furthermore, Wike encouraged journalists to verify ongoing developments by visiting project sites themselves.

He urged them to work with Mandate Secretaries across different sectors such as education, health, and social development, in order to report the facts accurately.

According to him, too many reporters rely on assumptions rather than direct observation.

In addition, he reiterated his commitment to transforming the FCT under Tinubu’s administration.

Wike said his team continues to tackle issues methodically, one after the other, because addressing them all at once is unrealistic.

He concluded by stressing that development takes time and perseverance. “No government can solve all Nigeria’s problems at once. Not in four years. Not even in twenty,” he said. “But we will continue doing our part, step by step.”
