Vigilantes Apprehend 8 Suspected ISWAP Terrorists On Deadly Mission In Niger State

Some community vigilantes and youths have arrested suspected terrorists and handed them over to security authorities in Niger State.

According to PRNigeria, the suspected terrorists were apprehended after some strange people in the Wawa district of New Bussa were searched and questioned.

A source who participated in the search in an audio sent to PRNigeria disclosed that the suspects confessed that they had a sinister mission in the community.

The source said: “We thank God for the efforts of the military in our area. As part of our security consciousness, after (a) recent attempt on a military base in Wawa, we searched for strangers in our community and we were able to arrest eight of them with criminal intent and recovered AK-47 guns, 10 magazines, and 160 bullets, among other lethal ammunition.

“Surprisingly, some of the suspects even prayed the early-morning Muslim prayer with us in a Mosque. Nobody would have thought that they are criminals, as they looked very religious and pious and they are not even Fulanis.”

At least eight terrorists were killed and four kidnapped victims were rescued on Friday by the Troops of Operation Forest Sanity of the Nigerian Army in Zamfara State.

This was confirmed by the Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj Gen Musa Danmadami, stating that the terrorist camps that were attacked were located at Dutse Uku forest in Lanke and Danmarke villages in the Gummi Local Government Area of Zamfara.

He added that the Nigerian military personnel, while on the fighting patrol engaged the terrorists in a shootout and neutralised eight bandits, while others scampered for safety with gunshot wounds.

He claimed that the soldiers used the general area after the firefight to rescue four kidnapped victims.
Six AK-47 rifles, 40 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, six AK-47 magazines, and 32 motorcycles were recovered, according to him.
