Members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the United States are preparing for the 55th edition of the Biafra Heroes and Heroines Remembrance Day.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports that the event is scheduled to take place on May 30, 2025, in the state of Texas, and will feature various activities aimed at honoring those who lost their lives during the Nigerian Civil War, which lasted from 1967 to 1970.

The announcement was shared by a popular IPOB supporter, Chika Austine, on Facebook, who urged all Biafrans living in the United States to attend and participate in the historic occasion.

He described the remembrance day as a “wonderful event” and encouraged those who have not yet joined the global Biafra movement to seize this opportunity to align with the cause.

Biafra Heroes and Heroines Day is an annual commemoration observed on May 30th by IPOB and pro-Biafra supporters across the world.

It is a solemn day set aside to remember the men, women, and children who were killed during the struggle for Biafra, especially during the brutal civil war which left over a million people dead, mostly from the Igbo ethnic group.

In recent years, IPOB has expanded its reach across continents, with strong chapters in Europe, Asia, and North America.

Texas, USA, has emerged as one of the movement’s strongholds in North America, regularly hosting rallies, seminars, and public events aimed at raising awareness about Biafra’s historical grievances and its call for self-determination.

The 2025 event is expected to draw hundreds of participants from various states in the U.S., as organizers continue to urge supporters to book their flight tickets early and prepare for a remarkable gathering.

The anniversary will also serve as a platform to renew the call for justice, remembrance, and freedom, while strengthening unity among Biafran supporters in the diaspora.

For IPOB and its members, May 30 is more than just a memorial date; it is a reaffirmation of the collective resolve to keep the memory of Biafra alive and continue pushing for its realization through peaceful and diplomatic means.

With growing international interest in self-determination movements, IPOB is leveraging diasporic platforms to keep the Biafran question in global conversations.

The organizers believe that with continued support, sacrifice, and commitment, the dream of an independent Biafran state remains achievable in the future.
