A Ghanaian top businessman and gold dealer, Bernard Antwi Boasiako submits initial bid of $3.1 Billion in a letter written to the management of English Premier League side, Chelsea FC. His offer came at a time other bidders keep asking for reduction in the quoted amount.
The club’s Billionaire Russian owner, Roman Abramovich is demanding of £3 Billion for the club to be released. The bid from the Ghanaian businessman goes in excess of many bids so far. The letter communicating his bid was signed by Andy Owusu, manager of his company called the Wontumi Group of Companies. Read the letter below:
“I am informed of the intention I am informed of the intention by the owner of your reputable club, Mr. Roman Abramovich, to put up Chelsea Football Club for sale. I am by this letter writing to officially declare my intention for the purchase of same.
“My official bid is in the range of Three Point One Billion Dollars ($ 3.1B). My legal Team and Transactional Advisors are ready to engage in negotiations. Waiting for your response.”
In his initial declaration which was made on his own radio and TV stations, he said “I want to buy Chelsea. I am a businessman and I want to join those who are interested in buying the club. Abramovich has done his part and I believe it is about the time he helps a Ghanaian or an African secure the club.”
He also made mention of the fact that, “Ghanaians love Chelsea so I am doing that because of them. Personally, I support Manchester United,’ He revealed. Speaking on the price tag he said, “£3 billion is not anything, we will go for negotiation. I know I will win if am able to purchase Chelsea.”
The Billionaire owner of Chelsea, Roman Abramovich has come under a sudden pressure to sell the club due to the recent conflict between his country and Ukraine. Since the club was listed for sale with a £3 billion price. Several wealthy businessmen have shown interest in purchasing the club.
Turkish billionaire Murshan Bayrak has so far shown keen interest among the lots. He was rumored to come close to closing deals with the owner. “We have reached a certain stage […] “People are talking about it, we made some progress in the talks, and the world believes we have a 90% chance of completing the deal. Abramovich thinks the same.” He said.
