A Nigerian Twitter user identified as @Harmless12345 took to the microblogging platform X to express frustration over the rising economic hardship in the country.

In the viral post, he criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government for creating what he described as unbearable living conditions for ordinary Nigerians.

He illustrated his point by listing the current cost of furnishing a basic self-contained apartment.

According to his breakdown, house rent now stands at ₦550,000.

A foam mattress is priced at ₦120,000.

A standard bed frame costs ₦100,000.

A television is valued at ₦300,000.

An air conditioner is sold for ₦250,000.

A refrigerator is priced at ₦300,000.

A wardrobe costs ₦150,000.

A gas cooker set is ₦180,000.

A table goes for ₦70,000.

Plates, cups, and pots are collectively priced at ₦80,000.

Curtains or cottons cost another ₦80,000.

In total, these items amount to over ₦2 million.

He posed a critical question: for someone earning ₦100,000 per month, how long would it take to afford these items?

He asked readers to assume feeding and clothing costs remain constant.

He further added that inflation under the APC government should be treated like the mathematical constant π (pi).

This analogy implies that inflation is steady, cyclical, and unending under the current administration.

The tweet resonated with many Nigerians who joined the conversation to share their own economic struggles.

Social media users across platforms echoed similar frustrations over the cost of living.

Nigeria’s inflation rate has been steadily climbing, pushing basic commodities out of reach for average citizens.

Since taking office in 2015, the APC has faced increasing criticism for poor economic management.

The Nigerian economy has battled rising inflation, a weakening naira, and surging unemployment.

Recent data from the National Bureau of Statistics puts inflation at over 30 percent.

The consequences are most visible among the youth and low-income earners.

Many young Nigerians find it difficult to live independently or furnish their own apartments.

Some have given up entirely and now live with relatives or seek relocation abroad.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM), a UK-based media organization with operations in Nigeria, has documented these challenges in a series of investigative reports.

DDM has consistently highlighted the growing pressure on Nigerians due to persistent inflation and economic mismanagement.

@Harmless12345’s tweet serves as a stark reflection of the national mood.

It captures the frustration, disappointment, and exhaustion of millions grappling with survival in one of Africa’s largest economies.

Despite repeated promises by the APC to improve economic conditions, Nigerians say their lives are getting harder, not better.

Without immediate intervention, citizens fear the hardship may become even more unbearable.

Many continue to demand clear, actionable economic policies from those in power.

Until then, Nigerians will be left to navigate daily life with shrinking incomes and rising expenses.
