“They Ignore Important Tweets” — Nasboi Calls Out Nigerian Bloggers

Share this:

Nigerian comedian and content creator Nasboi has criticised some bloggers over what he described as one-sided reporting, accusing them of ignoring important issues while amplifying less meaningful content.

Speaking via his social media platforms, Nasboi expressed frustration that his posts addressing insecurity in Nigeria often go unnoticed, despite his consistent efforts to raise awareness on the issue.

According to him, he uses his platform on X (formerly Twitter) to speak about insecurity more frequently than many other celebrities, but those posts rarely receive attention from blogs.

He argued that instead, bloggers tend to highlight his more casual or unrelated tweets, creating a misleading impression that he is indifferent to the country’s challenges.

“There is no celebrity in Nigeria who talks about insecurity in our country more than me. You can check it on Twitter. But whenever I speak about it and also tweet normal things, the only tweets Nigerian bloggers pick are the random ones, while they ignore the important tweets,” he said.

Nasboi also criticised the media’s focus on celebrity gossip, pointing to coverage of a popular television host’s marriage as an example of stories that dominate headlines while more pressing national issues are overlooked.

“When they post those random tweets, people now think I’m insensitive. But what is our business with the issue between Frank Edoho’s marriage? What concerns us about it? Nigerian bloggers will amplify those kinds of stories instead. When it comes to distracting people, most bloggers do. How many times have they amplified serious issues?” he added.

His comments have since sparked conversation online, with some users agreeing with his concerns about media priorities, while others defended bloggers, noting that audience interest often drives the type of content that gets published.

The debate highlights ongoing tensions between public figures and digital media platforms over content selection, audience engagement, and the balance between entertainment and serious discourse in Nigeria’s online space.
